About Washington-Wilkes

Washington is in the Piedmont region of Georgia. It is 107 miles east of Atlanta, Ga. It is the midway point between Athens, GA and Augusta, GA, lying 44 miles to the east of Athens and 57 miles to the west of Augusta.

Based on the 2010 census, the population of the City of Washington is 4,134. The population of Wilkes County is 10,593.

Washington has a total area of 7.9 square miles (20 km2), of which, 7.8 square miles (20 km2) is land and 0.04 square miles (0.10 km2) of it (0.25%) is water.
